The Mondrian dress was created by the french designer Yves Saint Laurent in 1965, as an homage to Piet Mondrian’s paintings.
Yves Saint Laurent created a collection of knee-lenghth dresses inspired by the artist’s paints with blocks with the primary colors and black contour.
Yves Saint Laurent was a genius and, besides the Mondrian inspired pattern, the dresses accommodated the body by hiding all the shaping in the seaming of each block of jersey.
